The basics

What are industrial drone systems?

Industrial and commercial drones are data tools — aerial platforms with professional payloads, flown to structured missions, that turn a site into usable maps, models, and inspection data.

Answers

Frequently asked questions.

What is an industrial drone system?
An industrial or commercial drone system is a complete package — an aerial platform, a professional camera or sensor payload, flight operations, and data processing and analytics — built to collect usable data from industrial and infrastructure sites. It is fundamentally different from a consumer photography drone: the purpose is accurate, repeatable data for surveying, mapping, and inspection, not footage.
How is an industrial drone different from a consumer drone?
Consumer drones are built for photography and video. Industrial drones are data tools — carrying survey-grade or thermal payloads, flown to structured mission plans, and paired with processing and analytics that turn captures into maps, 3D models, measurements, and inspection reports. Meevanta focuses on industrial and commercial applications, not consumer retail.
What can survey and mapping drones do?
They capture aerial imagery that is processed into orthomosaics, contours, 3D models, and volumetric measurements — for topographic survey, land mapping, construction survey, mine mapping, stockpile measurement, and progress monitoring. This can reduce manual surveying effort and provide repeatable, timestamped aerial documentation. We do not promise specific accuracy or percentage improvements unless verified for your deployment.
What can inspection drones inspect?
Inspection drones safely inspect structures and assets that are risky or slow to reach on foot — buildings, bridges, towers, solar infrastructure, industrial facilities, power infrastructure, roofs, and large structures — using visual and, where appropriate, thermal imaging to reveal condition and defects.
What is thermal inspection?
Thermal inspection uses a thermal camera payload to capture heat signatures. In solar farms it reveals hotspots that signal failing panels or connections; in power and industrial assets it finds overheating components — issues invisible to the naked eye — across large areas quickly and safely.
What is LiDAR, and when is it used?
LiDAR is a laser-scanning payload that produces precise 3D point clouds of terrain and structures, useful where dense, accurate 3D data is needed — for example under vegetation or for detailed terrain models. It is one of several payload options selected to fit the job; not every drone carries it.
What payloads are available?
Depending on the platform and application, payload options include RGB cameras, thermal cameras, multispectral sensors, LiDAR, and survey-grade payloads. Payloads are available options selected for your application — a specific payload is not included with every drone.
How is drone data turned into useful information?
Collecting imagery is only the first step. The captures are processed through photogrammetry into orthomosaics and 3D models, then analysed with computer vision and AI for measurements, change, defects, and condition — and delivered as maps, GIS data, digital twins, and reports. The value is in turning raw data into decisions, not just flying.
Can drone data be combined with IoT and other systems?
Yes. Aerial data combines with ground-level IoT sensors, GIS, cloud platforms, and digital twins for a complete operational picture — the aerial view of what your IoT sensors monitor on the ground. This integration across the Meevanta product range is a key strength.
Are drone operations in India legal?
Drone operations in India must comply with applicable civil aviation and operational requirements, including the DGCA framework. Meevanta carries out operations in compliance with applicable requirements, planning for airspace, zones, and permissions. We do not claim any specific regulatory approval unless it is verified, and this page does not constitute legal advice.
Can drones be used for agriculture?
Yes — for crop monitoring, field mapping, crop-health analysis, agricultural surveying, precision agriculture, and, where legally and technically applicable, spraying. Drone data supports better decisions; we do not make crop-yield guarantees, as outcomes depend on many factors.
Who flies the drones?
Operations are carried out by trained pilots to compliant mission plans as part of the service. Meevanta handles the end-to-end operation — planning, flight, data capture, processing, and reporting — or works with your teams where you have your own capability.
How much maintenance do drone systems need?
Drone platforms and payloads need periodic checks and servicing to operate reliably and safely. Specific maintenance depends on the platform, payload, and usage, and is covered as part of an ongoing operations and support arrangement.
Can you provide the processing and analytics too?
Yes. Drone systems are delivered end to end — platform, payload, flight operations, data processing, analytics, and reporting — or the deliverables are integrated with your existing GIS and platforms.
Can you build a custom drone solution for our site?
Yes. We assess your site and application, select the right platform and payload, plan compliant operations, and build the processing and reporting to fit your requirement — including combining drone data with IoT and other systems.
How do we get started?
Tell us about your site, application, and surveying or inspection requirement, and our team will recommend an appropriate drone system and deployment approach. Talk to a drone expert or request product information to begin.
